Harmonics Flooring Installation

Harmonics flooring is a laminate flooring product designed to allow quick and easy installation for DIY installers. This product uses a proprietary tongue-and-groove connector that eliminates the need for adhesives. Instead, the flooring panels click together in a floating Harmonics Flooring Installation. Materials

Before purchasing your materials, measure the room you plan to Harmonics Flooring Installation in. Multiply the length and width of the space to calculate square footage, then add about 5 percent to this number to account for material that will be lost to cutting. You can buy Harmonics flooring from Costco or from any specialty flooring distributor. Along with your floor boards, you’ll also need to purchase the Harmonics installation kit. The kit includes underlayment, spacers and tools needed to install the floor.

Floor Preparation

Before beginning Harmonics Flooring Installation, allow the materials to sit in the room and acclimate for 48 hours to adjust to temperature changes. Next, remove the molding or trim from the perimeter of the floor so you can access the entire surface.

Prepare wood subfloors for Harmonics Flooring Installation by removing stray nails or staples and securing loose boards. For concrete subfloors, it’s important to level the surface by grinding down high spots and filling low spots with a leveling compound. Once the floor is level, cover the entire surface with the underlayment material found in the installation kit. Overlap each sheet by several inches, but do not fasten it to the subfloor.

Harmonics Flooring Installation

Start your installation along the longest or most visible wall in the room. Use the spacers in the installation kit to create a 1/4 inch expansion gap along the wall, and then lay your first board with the tongue facing the wall. Connect the next row by placing the boards at a 20 to 30 degree angle to one another and clicking the tongue-and-groove connectors together. For areas that are less accessible, place the boards flat and use the tapping block to join the connectors together. Stagger the joints along each row by at least six inches to create a more stable installation. Use the pull bar to force the last row of flooring into place.

Cut planks as necessary using a jigsaw, handsaw or circular saw. When using a jigsaw, keep the boards face down to minimize surface damage. For all other types of saws, keep the board face up when cutting.

Complete your Harmonics Flooring Installation by removing spacers and re-installing trim or molding to cover the expansion gap. Because this product uses a floating installation method, you can safely walk on the surface immediately after installation.
